Formula 1 racer Liam Lawson stated he came dangerously close to a life-threatening incident during Sunday's F1 event in Mexico when two safety personnel darted across the track directly in front of him

The alarming incident took place on the third rotation when marshals were observed on the track as Lawson was returning to the race following an premature pit stop to replace his broken nose section

Racer's Instant Response

Moments later, the team's competitor Lawson radioed to his pit wall engineer saying: "Is this for real? Did you just see that? I might have... taken their lives"

"I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing"

"I exited on a new set of hards, and then I approached Turn One and suddenly there were two dudes running across the track"

"I almost collided with one of them, honestly, it was incredibly risky"

Safety Concerns Raised

"Obviously there's been a communication breakdown at some point but I've never encountered that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's pretty unacceptable"

"We fail to grasp how on a live track safety personnel can be permitted to just dash across the track in such a way. I have no idea why, I'm sure we'll get some form of reasoning, but it really can't happen again"

Governing Body Reviewing

F1's overseeing organization, the FIA, is thoroughly reviewing the situation

"After an occurrence at turn one, the race directors was advised that wreckage remained on the track at the apex of that corner" stated the regulatory authority

"In the third rotation, marshals were alerted and made ready to go onto the racing surface and recover the debris once the entire field had cleared the area"

"As soon as it became apparent that Lawson had entered the pits, the orders to send marshals were rescinded and a safety warning flag was raised in that section"

"The examination is ongoing what happened after that point"
